2008 Annual Dinner

Yet another great Annual Dinner, and thanks to everyone involved in organising it.
Also my personal thanks to everyone who so kindly welcomed me, and expressed
so many kind wishes as to my health - if I don't see you before, I hope we'll meet
again at the same event next year! To Keith Mullender, who acted as my personal
chauffeur, I would like to add my own thanks, and also to David Turner for his kind
words.

To business - first of all the menu, and I should add that I thought the food this year
was exceptionally good:
Starter: Roast monkfish tail, Noilly Pratt & fennel reduction, carrot & parsnip crisps
Entree: Fillet of new season English lamb, gateau of minted Jersey Royal potatoes,
grilled aubergine & glazed baby artichokes
Dessert: Compot of banad set in coconut jelly
Delicious chocolate truffles accompanied the coffee, and the wines were:
Macon Blanc Villages 2006 Chateau de Peronne
Chateau Bel Air 2005 Bordeaux Superieur

Our guests this year were:
Old Stationer Professor Alec Boksenberg, CBE, FRS, FInstP
who is also chairman of the UK National Commission for UNESCO, & also
the Natural Sciences Committee, and Hon Professor of Experimental Astronomy
for the University of Cambridge
John W Waterlow, Master of the Stationers' Company and last, but no means least
Simon Baynes, son of our former Headmaster, the late Robert Baynes
