2006 Annual Dinner
Well, what can I say? Yes, it was the typical re-union of Old Boys in the
impressive setting of the Grand Hall of the Statioenrs' Company, but there were
some new highlights. An amusing speech from OS Professor Tony Moffat (1954-61),
an admission from the Maste of the Stationers' Company, Patrick Shorten, that
closing the school was a mistake (defintely a highlight, as this was the first
time I had ever heard this from any Company member), and the rousing singing
of the school song - all four verses! The latter Roger Engledow, the
outgoing President, acknowledged was a definite highlight of his term of office.
We certainly lifted the rafters that evening!

Timable of couscous, with provencal vegetables
with pesto and aged balsamic

Coffee, tea and infusions and mints
all washed down with Cote a cote blanc vin de Pays d'Oc, Cote de cote rouge
vin de Pays d'Oc and port, to say nothing of the pre-dinner drinks in the
Stock Room, the loving cup (sadly, apparently filled with orangeade) and several
pints afterwards in The Cockpit with comrades - a really boozy and friendly
occasion!
