Annual Dinner 2006

Well, what can we say? Yes, it was the typical re-union of Old Boys in the impressive setting of the Grand Hall of the Stationers' Company, but there were some new highlights. An amusing speech from OS Professor Tony Moffat (1954-61), an admission from the Master of the Stationers' Company, Patrick Shorten, that closing the school was a mistake (definitely a highlight, as it was the first time we had ever heard this stated publicly by any Company member), and the rousing singing of the school song - all four verses! Roger Engledow, the outgoing President, acknowledged was a definite highlight of his term of office. We certainly lifted the rafters that evening!

So who was there on 24th March 2006? Here's a full list, sorted by the years of their attendance at the school.

Also, for those who missed it and wondered what we ate and drank, here's the menu
(each one is linked to a photo of a plate for each course, just to get your gastric juices working):

Timbale of couscous, with provencale vegetables with pesto & aged balsamic
----+----
Confit duck leg with mixed bean cassoulette, fondant potato and wilted greens
----+----
Layered summer pudding served with clotted cream
----+----
Coffee, tea and infusions and mints

...all washed down with a white Cote de Pays d'Oc, a red Cote de Pays d'Oc, & Port - & port, of course! - to say nothing of the pre-dinner drinks in the Stock Room, the loving cup (apparently filled with orangeade for some...) and several pints afterwards in The Cockpit with comrades - a really boozy and friendly occasion!
