Annual Dinner 2011
At Stationers' Hall on 8th April our President Keith Mullender rose
to the challenge, and almost equalled his predecessor's record for the shortest
AGM ever! Notwithstanding it's brevity, a most succinct summary of achievements
during Keith's tenure of the post was greeted with acclaim - especially the news
that all the magazines produced at the school were now available to view online
(in the Library on this website). Keith had indeed applied himself - just as all
his predecessors have done - and willingly supported all the activities of the
OSA, as well as personally attending most of the various functions organised
within its different sections - his vote of thanks to the Committee and the
Membership's to him were both carried with acclaim.
As this evening would be the '150th Anniversary Dinner', a special souvenir menu had been produced for the occasion, This had been designed by Jenni Mote and printed by the former printers of our magazines Printibiity. Jacketed with an opaque cover showing the School coat of Arms, its pages are shown here as thumbnails - click on each one for a full size view, using your browser's 'back' button to return to this page.
True to form, and every Old Stationers now getting used to these short AGMs, there was the usual rush to the area set aside for the essential thirst-slaking prior to the dinner bell... Naturally, whilst gently sipping the aperitifs (Ahem!!!) many old friendships were confirmed - with gossip being passed around & humour being shared - everything you would expect from hardy Old Stationers! Toastmaster Brian Simpson (an old boy himself) was on duty tonight, so Mike P was able to enjoy his time "off the rein" so to speak, and dutifully joined the merry throng when Brian called Members and Guests to take their places for dinner!
The menu, wine list and toast list are shown in the Souvenir Menu above (click the third from left). The President shared the traditional Loving Cup with all, & coffee followed with Hand-made Chocolates & Petit Fours.
Our Guest Speaker was Edward Morris MA(Cantab), DPhil(Oxon) and our usual Guests of Honour - The Master of the Stationers' Company, Christopher McKane and the Clerk, William Alden - were welcomed in true Old Stationers fashion.
In almost his last duty as President, Keith Mullender followed tradition and proudly presented an OSA tie to the Master as a memento of his last 'official' meeting with the OSA.
